Basic Diver

With the SSI Basic Diver program, you’ll learn the basic concepts of scuba diving through an initial introductory dive, followed by a second dive where you’ll apply what you’ve learned at one of our amazing dive sites, with options up to 12 meters deep.

We start in the morning with an explanation of the key principles and most important aspects of scuba diving. Next, you’ll enjoy your first shallow-water dive from the shore, where we will practice safety exercises. During this dive, you’ll have the opportunity to see schools of fish, octopuses, rays, and more marine life while practicing your buoyancy.

After a break, and following a dive briefing and equipment preparation, you will head out by boat with your instructor to complete the second dive at a maximum depth of 12 meters. The options for the boat dive are:

• Atlantic Museum: The first underwater museum in Europe, designed by British artist Jason deCaires Taylor, this installation features more than 300 individually designed sculptures that address important current issues such as migration, climate change, and conservation.
• Flamingo: One of the best dives in Lanzarote due to its incredible marine biodiversity. You’ll encounter schools of fish, including barracudas, bream, and striped seabream, as well as trumpetfish and rays. At the top of this food chain, you may also spot tuna or jackfish hunting smaller prey.

Once you complete the Basic Diver program, you’ll receive a temporary digital diving certification. This certification is valid for 6 months, during which you can continue your training and learning by starting courses such as the Open Water Diver program.
