Cueva de Las Gambas or Shrimp Cave, is a popular dive site in Puerto del Carmen with advanced and technical divers as the cave is located within a reef wall at a depth of around 40 meters. Below this, the wall drops gradually to depths greater than 100 meters. Due to its depth, the site is not visited regularly by most divers, making it a very peaceful and relaxing dive. For qualified technical divers, we offer guided dives to the deeper depths of the site.
When approaching the cave´s entrance, we recommend that you cover your light so as to not disturb the shrimp. Once inside, you can then slowly uncover it and watch as the shrimp scurry away for cover, hiding from the big groupers that are surrounding you, ready for their next shrimp feast!
